The Inspiration Behind The Design:
The unbridled brightness of Almost Ripe almost begs to be paired with clean lines and white – lots of white. This color feels right at home in a modern setting. However, I wanted to take this interior hue down an unexpected path.

In nature, lime-green shows up quite often. From lichen growing on rocks to dandelions just beginning to open, this zingy hue can be spotted over and over again. In fact, it stands out even more when surrounded by the muted tones of brown, gray, and dark green.
Using the natural world as my inspiration, I designed this space using rustic elements, botanical prints, and worn-in wooden furniture. I chose one of my favorite hues from the Earth’s Color Collection, muted gray-blue WATER .05 to complement and also calm the wall color. Painted along the trim, this color is strong enough to hold its own when up against the vibrancy of Almost Ripe, but is also neutralized enough to not compete.

A fruitful Pinterest search yielded a plethora of botanical illustrations in the perfect colors. Arranged organically and placed gently with tape, images of fennel blooms, cornflowers, and grasses bring the natural inspiration to life.
Complementary Colorhouse hues for this room are:
WATER .05 – trim and doors
BISQUE .02 – ceilings
STONE .06 – adjoining room
