This summer, we tapped local designers, artists, and makers to help transform a studio in the Pearl District’s iconic Honeyman Hardware Lofts. We reached out to a long list of collaborators to take a blank canvas, north-facing studio and turn it into an expression of creativity that our city is known for.
Styled against a backdrop of muted pastel hues in a unique color-block technique, custom furniture from Revive Upholstery & Design, The Joinery, and Revolution Design House carve out a warm and inviting living room in the studio’s open floor plan. Paintings by graphic artist turned painter Karen Wippich bring Portland’s creativity to life.
Vintage Moroccan rugs from Kat + Maouche add pattern and texture to the unit’s original concrete floors and Revolution Design House’s upholstered accent chair softens the towering exposed concrete pillar reminiscent of the building’s warehouse history. WATER .06 and AIR .07 meet in the background.
Dark walnut bedroom furniture from The Joinery, a super comfy quilt from Portland’s new Parachute store, and a hand-woven throw from Cloth and Calico make this a bedroom you would dream about during the day. Add in a sweet boombox from Case of Bass, a nightlight from Revolution Design House, and a pint-sized side table from Alexander James Peacock and you have major #bedroomgoals.
A sculptural macrame wall hanging by Holly Mueller Home, a collection of ceramic vases, and a modern dresser from The Joinery stand out against the warm white BISQUE .01 backdrop.
The bright studio creates the perfect place for a gallery of succulents, cactuses, and other thriving plants found at Portland Nursery.
Unique home accessories like a copper arrow wall piece can be found at downtown Portland design boutique Woonwinkel. The simplicity of the AIR .07 color block, copper arrow, and terracotta pot offer a warm and calming welcome.
The kitchen is complete with a smock from Portland Apron Co., hand-forged knives from Carter Cutlery, and local ceramics from Puji Studio.
