PINK IN A DINING ROOM?!
Pink doesn’t have to be just for a kid’s room. Use this hue to glam up your dining room this holiday season. More unexpected than a traditional red in the dining room but still related, this color is a soft and sophisticated pastel. Bring out the earthiness in pink by using it as a backdrop against warm woods like dark walnut, handmade ceramics with muted glazes, green and grey succulents in terracotta pots, and the rustic texture of sage-colored linens.
Here’s what you will need to create your own Graphic Glaze wall:
Blue painter’s tape
Level and pencil
Clean rags
2 Large paint brushes
Roller set up
Drop cloth
1 quart SPROUT .06
1 quart METAL .03
1 quart METAL .04
Step 1: Paint a base coat of SPROUT .06. Let dry. Using the level, draw the frame for your graphic glaze. Tape it off.
Step 2: Seal the edges of your frame for straight lines.
Step 3: Make your glaze. In a separate container, mix a 50/50 mixture of METAL .03 paint and water. This will become your glaze. Stir. Using one of the large paint brushes, dip into the glaze and make sweeping motions across the wall. Use the dry brush to feather the glaze so that the brushstrokes are not visible.
Step 4: Keep brushing until the wall is completely covered in a light haze of glaze. Then, use your rag to wipe the wall, removing any brush strokes.
Repeat the glazing technique with METAL .04.
