This Earth Day, we are partnering with CITYarts, a nonprofit public arts organization, to make the world more colorful and less volatile! $1 from every gallon of Colorhouse paint sold between April 18-24 will be donated to CITYarts to support their mission of empowering youth to help transform their communities through art.
Colorhouse eco-friendly paint is available at Home Depot locations in the NYC area, online, and at select green building stores nationwide.
To kick off our partnership with CITYarts and our Paint for the People and the Planet campaign, we created a hands on mural project with the students of Alexander Robertson School in Manhattan. Using our eco-friendly, low odor, zero VOC paint and the creative minds of 5th graders at Alexander Robertson School we painted a 400 square-foot mural in their gymnasium to represent the connection people have with each other and to the natural world.
Through CITYarts, we connected with emerging artists who collaborated to create the unique, large scale mural design reflective of our tagline: Making the World More Colorful and Less Volatile.
My favorite part of the mural is the friendly bees that make their way throughout the landscape….buzzzzzz!
These happy kids represent the experience of painting the mural with the students at Alexander Robertson school. We started the project off by screaming the name of our favorite color…then we grabbed our brushes and let the paint fly!
Fellow Color Nerd Lynn Morgan and I put the finishing touches on the mural, making sure that none of the former white wall was left showing. In one day, we not only transformed a space, but more importantly, we made connections in the New York City community through color.
