Happy Dad’s Day! At Colorhouse, we get to work with one of our fave dads – DJ Widmer, featured here with his cutey kids, Jameson and Ford, in front of a wall brushed with Colorhouse DREAM .06. Jameson and Ford have helped us in the studio recently with some of our DIY projects – the Chalkboard Bubble Board Wall and Counting Sheep Border.
DJ’s day-job is focused on building partnerships and growing distribution for our fast-growing eco-friendly paint company. But at home, it’s all about building forts, playing cars and putting together puzzles with these two little guys. This summer, DJ and his family will move into a new house in SW Portland, offering more room to run. Every wall will be painted with Colorhouse! Ford’s room will be fun and fresh with a bright green THRIVE .03 accent wall while older brother Jameson will play it cool with big blue stripes painted in WATER .04 and WATER .05.
In addition to being a remarkable father to his own kids, DJ is dedicated to opening doors for teens and young adults in our community. As a University of Portland alumn, he founded the UP HIVE, a series of educational alumni networking events, which raise funds for student scholarships. DJ also chairs a new Ambassadors Board that raises funds for Portland’s De La Salle North, a Catholic high school that serves urban students from low-income families.
We lovingly call DJ the Prince of Positivity at Colorhouse – from his dedication to family to his work within the Portland community – you can understand why. Thank you for all you do DJ!
