In this edition of MAKE THIS, we show you how to use Colorhouse paint to make simple kid’s mural. Learn how to easily add whimsy to a kid’s room or playroom with this cute design! You will need:
Paint brush
Painter’s tape
Paint roller
Pencil
Poster board
Stencil brush
Scissors
X-Acto knife
Colorhouse stencil – Colorhouse Kids Mural Stencil and Instructions!
Colorhouse paint
Colors used: SPROUT.01, SPROUT.02, SPROUT.05, SPROUT.06, STONE.06
Part 1: Preparing the stencils
1. Download and print Colorhouse Kids Mural Stencil and Instructions on 11×17 paper.
2. Cut out each shape.
3. Trace each shape onto the tag board.
4. Use X-Acto knife to cut out traced image.
5. After cutting, lift out the inside shape.
6. Cut a border around the stencil. This is what you’ll use to paint the mural!
Part 2: Painting the mural
1. Paint the wall SPROUT.05.
2. Freehand paint the horizon line with SPROUT.01.
3. Fill in the sky with SPROUT.01.
4. Position your stencils with painter’s tape as follows:
BIRD: Position and paint the body of “A” SPROUT.06. When dry, finish painting the legs of
“A” SPROUT.02. Then position and paint the wing, “B”, SPROUT.02. When dry, freehand
paint an eye STONE.06 or make a stencil with a hole punch.
FLOWER 1: Position and paint “C” SPROUT.05, when dry, layer “D” SPROUT.02 on
top. Paint, then let dry. To finish the flower, layer “E” SPROUT.06 on top, paint and let dry.
FLOWER 2: Position and paint “D” SPROUT.05, when dry, layer “E” SPROUT.02 on
top. Paint, then let dry. To finish the flower, layer “F” SPROUT.06 on top, paint and let dry.
STEMS: Position and paint “J” STONE.06 for both flowers.
PETALS: Use “G” SPROUT.06, “H” SPROUT.02 and “I” SPROUT.06 to create petals
for your flowers.
